Launch and Recovery
If you are new to PWC’s and haven’t had much practise in launch and recovery of your craft, or you find yourself in difficulty when launching & recovering at a particular location, then a “Tractor Launch & Recovery” service might just save your day.
Below, you will find a basic explanation of how it happens, and a list of experienced/ reliable businesses that offer this service around The County.
Not sure what Tractor Launch is?
The launch operative will attach your trailer & ski up to the tractor (with you onboard the ski) & reverse you into the water, until your ski floats off the trailer. The tractor operative will then tow your trailer back to the parking/storage area.
On your return to the beach, make your call to the operative & your trailer will be reversed into deep water so you can simply ride your ski onto it, ready for securing (using the winch strap) & pulling out.
Key Points regarding Tractor Launch
Before your ski is put into the water, it is VITAL that you take the following steps:
Ensure your hull bungs are in place
Check you have your anchor on board. You may need to anchor off if you need to talk to the operative, or have left some kit behind that you need
Remove all straps securing your ski to the trailer
Ensure lanyard is worn & plugged in, so that you have control of the ski as it floats off the trailer
On recovery, it is VITAL that you take the following steps:
Ride your ski SLOWLY onto the trailer, especially if there is swell present
Listen to direction from the Tractor Operative
Once on the trailer, ensure your ski is secured by the winch strap before being towed out.
